Looking after yourself: Tips for 2025

Dear Learners,

We hope that you are ready and prepared for the year ahead. With a new year of study underway, we want to help you set yourselves up for success. It is important to take this time to review your study habits and develop new learning strategies, as well as refresh the basics of staying healthy.

You may already use some of these strategies and live a healthy lifestyle, but it can be useful to reflect on how you look after yourself and how you can support your future clients.

Here are some health fundamentals to consider:

  • Movement: make sure you have consistent physical movement or exercise in your week
  • Nutrition: ensure that your diet is well-rounded, including eating fruits and vegetables
  • Hydration: remember to keep your fluids up before and after a workout, and throughout the day
  • Sleep: a consistent sleep routine is crucial to overall health and wellbeing. Try and practice good sleep hygiene
  • Medical: check in with your GP regularly, especially for any “minor” health concerns that may arise
  • Self-care: be kind to yourself and keep a positive mindset

It can also be useful to consider your study habits. Do you think that there’s any changes you can make to help you stay focused and achieve your goals? Perhaps you could schedule your study time to include breaks or set yourself up in a tidy workspace.

Other useful study habits involve reading and rereading, highlighting key information, taking notes, and discussing what you’ve learnt with another person.
